| The Augustiner brewery , as the oldest brewery of Munich with 680 years of brew tradition, is inseparably connected with Munich and supports Bavarian companionability and coziness for hundreds of years. Tavern tradition and the exceeding quality of the produced beer are two unremovable pillars of the Augustiner business concept. Naturally the Augustiner beers are brewed according to the Bavarian purity requirements (from 1516) as well as the purity requirements of Munich (from 1487). The whole year through, with selected commodities, furthermore, the brewerys own malt house produces beers like Lagerbier Hell, Edelstoff, Weißbier, Dunkel and Pils and complements the "Munich season" typically. The dark "Maximator" tastes good during the chilly stout-time, after a short break continued by the "Helle Bock" in May and then, for the "Octoberfest" , the unique specialty of the Augustiner brewery, the "Octoberfestbeer", that is still served in 200 liter barrels with the traditional "Ganter-Anstich" in the Augustiner tent. This specific tradition to pour out of the wooden barrel is also practiced by us in the Augustiner am Platzl. |
